How to make low potassium potatoes

If you have been advised to follow a low potassium diet, you may need to follow specific cooking methods for potatoes and vegetables. This video shows you one of the methods to reduce the potassium in potatoes. In this method potatoes are soaked for 12 hours overnight, potassium will move from the potato into the water and the water is drained away, therefore making the potato lower in potassium. These potatoes can then be used for chips, mash or roasties!

How to cook low potassium mashed potato and chips

If you have been advised to follow a low potassium diet, you may need to follow specific cooking methods for potatoes and vegetables. This short video shows another method for reducing the potassium in potatoes. This is the double boiling method, potatoes are boiled for 10 minutes and then the water is drained away. The potatoes are then boiled again to further reduce the potassium, these potatoes can now be used for whatever potatoes you fancy here we have shown mashed and chips!
